You will encounter quests in the game. These quests advance the story, trains your characters, and a lot more.
Story Quests
In "Tales of the Angels", you will be able to do three types of quests. Story, Side, and Flashback.
In a story quest, you will be able to do that quest and advance in the game. Story quests are usually about talking to certain NPC's about what is going on and trying to get to the bottom of Francelette's death, the Angelic Realm, and so on. These type of quests are mandatory in order for you to continue the game.
In a side quest, you will be able to go to dungeons to collect items. This should not be new to those who have played an RPG style game before. Get the items, collect your reward. It's that simple.
Now, new to Tales of the Angels will be something called Flashback Quests. These quests will take you back in time of the characters. You may return to the time when Francelette's memories were wiped by Volt, or maybe when Luna got to rescue Francelette, or even when Francelette and Luna confessed their love to each other. Anything is possible for these quests. Some include dungeons, while others do not.
Another thing about flashback quests is that the colors of the background will be different. Another difference is that you will be in the town during that time. For example, a flashback quest takes you back to 2009 in Kindness Village. Kindness Village in 2009 was different than in 2015.
Flashback Quests are optional, but if you read the fan fiction story recently, thats actually part of the quest. What you read in the fan fiction story may be in one of the flashback quests in the game. You get rewards for completing these and you will get more of the story as well.
Activating flashback quests are a little bit different than the normal quests. Instead of an NPC, you will need to find a hexagram on the floor. It will tell you the description of the quest and who you will be able to use during that quest.
THINGS TO REMEMBER:
1) All quests still follow the rules. If your entire party is defeated, it is a game over.
2) You will only be able to use Human Francelette in flashback quests if it does say that it uses Francelette.
3) The background and colors go back to normal once you finish the flashback quest.
4) You cannot repeat a flashback quest...sorry (but you can re-read it on the fan fiction story)
5) You can save your game before you start a flashback quest
6) If the dungeon will be a long one, you can save your game at the hexagram
7) The save function in the menu IS NOT disabled, but you can still save at the hexagram in a long dungeon
8) The "Francelette Dies = Game Over" rule is no longer in play. Now, if you would like a hardcore version of the game, ill consider this as a game over play
